‘Do you believe in love at first sight?’ he asked casually. He prayed for a ‘yes’ so that he could hold her back for few more minutes. ‘No, I don’t believe in fairy-tale love stories, and the concept of love at first sight begets such stories,’ she revealed. ‘Probably, you are right,’ he said with a sigh. In his mind, he knew all his efforts to start a decent conversation with her had fallen flat. She was a tough nut to crack, but he loved taking challenges. Years later, when he narrated his experience of their first meeting, both of them shared a hearty laugh. Love definitely happens at first sight, for some that is.
For them it worked because he knew how to make her feel good when he was around. He showed his care in subtle ways. He would give her the space she needed, and at another time, he was all ears when she wanted to vent out.
She was a yin to his yang. She was emotional, expressive, and sensitive. Her ways and acts screamed affection and loyalty. She felt an all-encompassing love toward people she cared for.
Together, they were a perfectly imperfect couple.
