God has His ways to make us accept certain things. For me, a trip to Ladakh made me accept few realities which I had been denying for a while. There’s this quote I had read on the internet which goes like, ‘If you have been brutally broken, but still have the courage to be gentle to others then you deserve a love deeper than the ocean itself.’ Pangong Tso gave me back that love.
It would be a gross understatement if I say, at a height of close to 15,000 feet, Pangong Lake is just beautiful. It’s an experience of a lifetime. It gives you that undefinable inner peace which you might have never experienced until you have seen it. In this article, I list down few of those defining moments.

Sunrise at Pangong Tso
A long, silent moment of thinking nothing. Absolutely nothing. Someone said it right, the best feelings are the ones which are left unsaid. I would bet my life to go back to experience this view again. I will. Till then, I thank myself for giving me the best sunrise of my life.
One more tick off the bucket list
Although it takes a different level of mental set-up to do a Goa-esque photo-shoot at Pangong, I did that when the temperature was 2 degrees and the weather was extremely breezy. It’s important to clarify, as no one would dress up like that in front of the icy cold lake, that I was not under any kind of addiction.

As if Pangong was not enough, we were lucky to visit two other lakes – Kyogar Tso and Tso Moriri, which are high altitude lakes in Ladakh. Kyogar Lake is a virgin lake with no tourists at all when we visited it. There were few nomadic settlements. Our driver was very kind to take us there but as we walked toward the lake, the natural habitat of insects and flies drove us away. Tso Moriri, on the other hand, is inside an area governed by the Indian Army so we needed to have prior permission to enter there. We stayed in that area for a night and for the entire night we were scared that our tent would fly away due to the unbearable strong wind from the lake.

Pangong made me fall for it at first sight. So much so that I didn’t want to leave it till the last moment. And since then, a hapless me is undergoing Pangong withdrawal syndrome. Can we go back? Can we freeze every moment? Just like the still water of the lake, can we make time standstill? But alas, one minute wave of thought, and all that we had gets distorted with a rippling effect. Perhaps what we think is destined to stay, is slowly and steadily moving away.

…those little waves had a story tell.
Note: None of the photos are edited to show you the real color of the sky, water, and landscape of Pangong Lake.

Loved it totally/….look forward for much such stories. 🙂
